Vitali Kononov
I am a bodyworker, a movement artist and a somatic movement educator. I have been practicing and teaching contact improvisation since 1996 and using touch as a multipurpose tool for over 20 years. My background includes massage therapy, contemporary dance, as well as various somatic disciplines and yoga. I have studied with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen @ The School for Body-Mind Centering® 2008 – 2013 and I have taught and assisted at Moving On Center – School for Participatory Arts and Somatic Research since 2002.
My Approach
My approach to movement and bodywork is deeply influenced by the Body-Mind Centering® and Dynamic Embodiment™. I offer 3 interrelated approaches to bodywork and recovery. Each has it’s benefits and place. Traditional Restorative Massage is based on Esalen Style and Swedish with Somatic Influence. Traditional Massage sessions are a great short term remedy, perfect for quick rejuvenation purposes. Somatic Bodywork adds specificity and addresses chronic issues, injuries and structural alignment. In my sessions I work with various tissues and structures, belonging to different body systems allowing deeper integration and often quicker time to heal. Re-patterning sessions are based on BMC and LMA methods, and integrate movement, touch and awareness based dialogue to help you enhance and multiply your moving dimensions.
